Travel | Ĺ amorĂn, Slovakia

I've talked about wanting to travel more this year and I mentioned in my last Life Update that we were going on our first family holiday in 5 years!!

I didn't actually take many pictures of the day we arrived but our holiday began on Sunday 31st with a short 2-hour flight from Stansted Airport to Bratislava.

We visited some family and had some traditional Slovakian food (I wasn't really a fan, I'm a VERY fussy eater), just before an absolutely massive storm hit. It was definitely the worst I've ever seen. It was a little cloudy and then all of a sudden it started pouring with rain and then came the thunder and lightning, with lightning strikes only meters from where we were attempting to take cover.

These are only some of the pictures I took, I think I'll try and do a second post with some more pictures at some point.

The second day of our trip was spent in Bratislava. We hopped on a little bus (actually more like a coach) from Šamorín to Bratislava Bus Station before heading to Staré Město to visit Slavín, a memorial and cemetery for Soviet Army soldiers. Definitely worth a visit!

We then headed back towards the city centre and had a little look at some stalls before taking a little tour of some of the city where we also got to pay a quick visit to Bratislava Castle.

Anna Saccone || Anna Saccone

This month's blogger pick is the lovely Anna Saccone of Anna Saccone and the SacconeJolys!

I started following Anna's blog (Anna Saccone) during her pregnancy with Emilia but I didn't start watching their daily vlogs until shortly after she was born, and from that day on my friends, I was obsessed.
4 years or so later I still am! I absolutely love their family, I've gotten into the habit of waiting until the weekend to watch their vlogs so that I can binge watch them all at once!

I've been meaning to do a little feature on Anna for a while but I never got round to it. Then I heard about all the problems she's been having since her miscarriage (Miscarriage at 11 Weeks), and then she made this video (Why I Quit Youtube) and I just wanted to cry.
People can be so mean and hurtful to others (especially those who are successful) and it just isn't acceptable, regardless of who you are.

So I thought now is definitely the right time to join in with everyone who's been sending blue hearts to Anna by doing this post and saying that Anna is an amazing woman and mother and to wish her all the best and to never give up!

I don't think I could pull of blue and pink, especially not pastel pink but Anna does it with such ease.

Sanctum (Alister Grierson, 2011)

Cast: Ioan Gruffudd, Rhys Wakefield, Richard Roxburgh, Alice Parkinson, Dan Wylie

Summary: An underwater cave diving team experiences a life-threatening crisis during an expedition to the unexplored and least accessible cave system in the world.

Genre: Adventure, Drama

I first watched this film a few years back and I just can't get enough of it.
It's not the best film but it's one of the films that for some reason, I love even more every time I watch it.

Ioan Gruffudd's acting is horrendous, I haven't seen him in much but his acting has been pretty bad in almost everything I've seen and his accent is just awful. The characters on a whole are a bit bland, but I love Rhys Wakefield so that's one reason to keep watching it.

For me it's definitely the locations and shots that make the film as good as it is. Pretty much all of them are absolutely stunning.

Red Dawn (Dan Bradley, 2012)

Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise, Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Summary: A group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers.

Genre: Action

Watched: July 4th

I think this is the 9th film I've watched this year about some sort of invasion, alien and human. It's starting to become an obsession.

I haven't seen the original Red Dawn so I didn't really know what to expect. I had however read some reviews saying that the film wasn't good, so to be honest I wasn't expecting much from.

I liked the film, I thought most of it was okay but there were definitely a few problems.
I really like Chris Hemsworth, but I wasn't too keen on him in this and I found a lot of the acting questionable, especially when it came to Josh Peck. His speech at the end was just terrible.
Red Dawn (2012) Still
The biggest problem for me was the time scale, I just didn't get it. It's not made at all clear how long it takes for everything to happen (or exactly what is happening), maybe I wasn't paying attention and I missed something important (highly unlikely).

It feels as though everything takes place within about a week, which I think is just a little bit too fast.
