3 1/2 Minutes, 10 Bullets (Marc Silver, 2015)

Stars: Lucia McBath, Ron Davis

Summary: Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving November 2012, four boys in a red SUV pull into a gas station after spending time at the mall buying sneakers and talking to girls. With music blaring, one boy exits the car and enters the store, a quick stop for a soda and a pack of gum. A man and a woman pull up next to the boys in the station, making a stop for a bottle of wine. The woman enters the store and an argument breaks out when the driver of the second car asks the boys to turn the music down. 3 1/2 minutes and ten bullets later, one of the boys is dead.

Genre: Documentary

Watched: July 10th, 2016

This is one incredible watch, even more so since I happened to watch it a few days after the shootings of two black men by police in America and after the mass shooting of police officers in Dallas.

I didn't want to watch this at first, not so much because it's a documentary but more so because of what it is about. I didn't think I would like it at all. I've seen a few documentaries/films in the past where the subject would make me so angry; I would turn it off because I couldn’t bare to watch anymore of it.

However; I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this. It was incredibly sad (and a little hard for me to watch at times), hearing from not only Jordan's parents but also his friends who were with him the night that he died.
I loved getting to watch snippets of the trial but I wish we had been able to see more of the trial itself.

Rating: 9/10

Lucy (Luc Besson, 2014)

Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, Choi Min-sik, Amr Waked

Summary: A woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

Genre: Action, Sci-fi

Watched: August 2nd, 2016

I managed to watch this on the bus (they had TV’s in the back of the seats!) during our failed trip to Vienna (more on that in another post).

I had actually gone out and bought this DVD a few months ago because I thought the cover looked really cool, but as usual I never got round to watching it and this was one of the few films in English so I decided I might as well watch it then.

Personally I think this is such an interesting idea for a film and the opening sequence is brilliant. My three favourite scenes are definitely the earlier ones where Lucy is kidnapped, when she wakes up in a hotel room alone, and when the experimental drug enters her system.
Lucy (2014) Film Still I really enjoyed Scarlett Johansson's performance in this; I loved watching her become a little less human and more robotic as the drug took hold.

The biggest downside for me was that towards the end of the film everything started to become a bit of a jumbled mess, I started to lose focus and didn't fully understand everything that was happening. There was too much going on all at once.
All in all I think it's a pretty good film, definitely one I would recommend and definitely one I would watch again.

Outfit | Side Zips

Well, well, well! I haven't done an outfit post since Blue/Grey way back in April. I've been being super, super lazy with outfit photos recently.

I actually made an effort to take some photos a couple of weeks ago so I'm hoping to try to start doing them on a more regular basis. Also on another note, I'm off on holiday tomorrow!

Genre: Sci-fi, Action

Watched: August 2nd, 2016

This is the second film I managed to watch last month during Slovakia trip.

I remember being really excited to watch this but as usual I never bothered going to the cinema to watch it. I do this 99% of the time, nowadays because going to the cinema now seems to require so much effort, its super expensive and I can never find people to go with me.

I absolutely loved the opening sequence of the Kaiju attack in San Francisco, the fight scenes looked incredible; heck the visuals a s a whole looked amazing, but after seeing the beauty of films like Pan's Labyrinth and Hell Boy, I wouldn't expect anything less from Guillermo de Toro.
I definitely didn't expect it to be as emotional as it was. I'm not going to lie, I did tear up a few times but especially in the scene where we visit Mako's childhood and I absolutely loved the relationship between Mako and Stacker.

I do have to say though the biggest downside for me was the acting, I found a lot of it to be a bit off especially with Robert Kazinsky's, there were a few others but his performance stood out the most for me.

All in all I really enjoyed it and I'm totally looking forward to the sequel.

Film | Most Rewatched - Part 4

Atlantis: Milo's Adventure (2003)
Catch That Kid (2004)
Eight Legged Freaks (2002)

I've mentioned somewhere before that I really, really like Kristen Stewart, and it all started with Catch That Kid! Well I have to admit I was a little obsessed with Corbin Bleu and Max Thierot as well as Kristen to be honest. I've seen this film so many times it's ridiculous!

Eight Below (2006)
Elf (2003)
Spy Kids 2: Island of lost Dreams (2002)

Spy Kids, Spy Kids. I don't think I've included it in any of my lists but I've seen the original Spy Kids a lot, well I thought I had until this film came out. I think I watched this film multiple times a day when I stayed at my cousins house. We were both obsessed with it, especially the credits.

Take The Lead (2006)
Tarzan and Jane (2002)
The Brothers Grimm (2005)

The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (2005)
The Core (2003)
The Tuxedo (2002)

I think I may have mentioned somewhere that I watch the Chronicles of Narnia every, single, year. This is my Christmas film that I watch every year on Christmas Eve (something I've been doing for at least 6+ years now). I sit down at 10pm with some snacks and I watch The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Thunderbirds (2004)
Treasure Planet (2002)
Journey to The Centre of the Earth (2008)

Godzilla (1998)
The Medallion (2003)
