Kill Bill: Volume 2 (Quentin Tarantino, 2004)

Cast: Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Michael Madsen. Daryl Hannah

Summary: The Bride continues her quest of vengeance against her former boss and lover Bill, the reclusive bouncer Budd and the treacherous, one-eyed Elle.

Genre: Crime, Action

Watched: January 2016

Just a short one here.

I watched the first part of Kill Bill sometime towards the end of last year; it had been on my list of films to watch for a couple of years, so when it came on TV I knew I had to watch it.

I really enjoyed Vol.1 but I remember thinking that in almost two hours it felt as though hardly anything had happened.

Still I was desperate to know what happened next and how everything was going to end, so I went out and bought Vol.2 on DVD.
Unfortunately I really didn't like this as much as Vol.1. For me it really did feel like nothing was happening, even more so than Vol 1. I really wasn't a fan of the second part of the story, for me it wasn't as interesting as the first part and it didn't feel like there was as much action.

Clouds of Sils Maria (Olivier Assayas, 2014)

Clouds of Sils Maria (2014) Poster

Cast: Juliet Binoche, Kristen Stewart, Chloe Grace Moretz, Johnny Flynn, Hans Zischler

Summary: A film star comes face-to-face with an uncomfortable reflection of herself while starring in a revival of the play that launched her career.

Genre: Drama

Watched: April 2016

I had been wanting to watch this film for a few months now (mainly because Kristen Stewart stars in it) and boy am I glad I did!

As someone who studied film I think the story is incredibly interesting as it is very much about acting. As Ian Freer says in his Empire review, the film is about "the difference between classic and modern styles, between intuition and technique, and about how age can infuse approaches to creativity.

I absolutely loved Kristen Stewart and Juliet Binoche. I thought their performances were fantastic, especially Stewart's. I wrote in my Adventureland review back in 2010 that although I really liked Stewart her, her acting style often annoyed me. This is definite proof that she can in fact act and for me this is her best performance yet.
Clouds of Sils Maria (2014) Film Still
As much as I loved the film, the last few scenes totally confused me. It was definitely unexpected and it felt a little bit random. It makes me feel as though I wasn't giving the film my full attention, that maybe I missed something and I should watch it again in order to fully understand what happened.

Then again I think maybe I would still be confused no matter how many times I watched the film. Definitely one of the best films I've seen this year.

Wishlist | #beachdaymusts

I'm heading to Slovakia for a few days at the end of the month with the family; so I thought I would take the opportunity to do my #beachdaymusts post as a wishlist, seeing as thought I haven't done one since November!!!

This post is definitely getting me super excited for my trip! (I'm still not a fan of flying though)

Wolf & Whistle Bikini | Seafolly Swimsuit

I'm constantly looking at swimwear, even if I have no plans to go anywhere. I think I just like to make sure that I have a good collection of swimwear for when I do go on holiday.

I've been loving swimsuits lately, the strappy back and the scuba style suit are two of my favourite styles at the moment. The only downside (or not some might say) is that I am quite big chested, so I find it difficult to find good fitting swimsuits/bikinis that don't come in back and cup sizes.

#beachdaymust - Swimsuit

#beachdaymusts 2
Long Sleeve Dress | Palm Print Shorts | Embellishment Maxi Dress

I do love a good dress cover-up when I'm on holiday and after seeing the knit dress in this Santorini Sunsets post and the embellished dress in Aimee Song's instagram post, they're definitely two styles I want to add to my wardrobe.

It's guaranteed that I'll bring a few skirts and dresses when I go on holiday, but let's get real for a second guys...there is nothing worse than being on the beach and your thighs are rubbing together like crazy (I know I'm not the only one who suffers from this on a super hot day). So I end up rummaging through my suitcase to find the only pair of shorts or trousers that I brought with me.

#beachdaymust - definitely shorts

#beachdaymusts 3
Double Dot Beach Bag | Ray-Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses | Gladiator Sandals

If you're going to the beach, you absolutely need a beach bag! I still need to buy one after throwing mine away before my holiday to Mallorca last year. I love a good pair of sandals, especially gladiator ones. I have a lot of them, maybe too many!

I have prescription sunglasses that I like but they're over 4 years old, I'm hoping to replace them before I go to Slovakia but as a treat I think at some point I may have to invest in a pair of Ray-Ban badboys.

#beachdaymust - all of the above. Don't forget the kindle, iPod, towel and SNACKS! Definitely snacks.

#beachdaymusts 4
Inflatable Chocolate Doughnut

I love inflatable’s! I'm not a great swimmer so if I can get away with not swimming I totally will!

What are you beach day musts?

Battle: Los Angeles (Jonathan Liebesman, 2011)

Cast: Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Ne-Yo, Michael Peña, Cory Hardrict

Summary: A squadron of U.S. Marines becomes the last line of defence against a global invasion.

Genre: Sci-fi, Action

Watched: June 4th, 2016

I wanted to watch this film when it came out in the cinema but as usual I never actually got round to it, and then I heard people saying that the reviews weren't great so I thought maybe I should give it a miss.

I've been watching a lot of alien invasion/war movies lately, so when this came on Film 4 I thought I might as well give it a go.

I actually quite liked the film, I didn't think it was as bad as a lot of the reviews said it was. It definitely could have been miles better, the story was little boring at times and I wasn't a fan of some of the characters, especially Michelle Rodriguez’s character.

As far as Alien war films go it's not that bad, it's not as good as District 9 or Skyline but I would watch it again.
