Life | Update

We're now halfway through the year so I thought I would give you a little update on my life in the last 6 months.

Life Update (dttsp)

Films: I touched on my goal to watch 150 Films in my Life | New things post (read my 150 Challenge post), which I have been documenting here: 150 Films.

You can read my 6 month film update here:

Driving License: After failing my first test back in January, I took a break for a couple of months of to relax and process in before booking a second test and going back to lesson. I am very happy to say that I passed my test on April 19th with a crazy 12 minors (the maximum is 15!). Phew, I literally, literally just made it!

A couple of weeks later I bought my very first car, a little ol' Nissan Micra Vibe. Now I just have to get used to driving it.

DSLR: I finally bought a camera, the very same Nikon D3300 I mentioned in my Life | New Things post. You can read a little bit more about my camera adventures in my Outfit | Blue/Grey post.

Holiday: I went on my first every holiday without my parents (which is a big thing for me as I'm not a keen flyer), a hen do in Amsterdam. Despite bringing my new camera I didn't actually take any pictures while we were over there.

My next holiday is at the end of July with my parents and sister (our first family holiday in 5 years), but I am eager to fit in another holiday before then. Any suggestions on where to go?

Twinsters (Samantha Futerman and Ryan Miyamoto, 2015)

Twinsters (2015) Poster

Cast: Anaïs Bordier, Samantha Futerman, Kanoa Goo

Summary: Adopted from South Korea, raised on different continents & connected through social media, Samantha & Anaïs believe that they are twin sisters separated at birth.

Genre: Documentary

Watched: May 14th, 2016

I remember hearing about this story on the news a few years ago. I mentioned in my review of My Beautiful Broken Brain that I'm not a big documentary watcher, so it took me a good few months before I actually got round to watching this.

I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary. It's such a crazy story, you would never think that something like this could happen.

I'm sure we've all heard stories about siblings separated at birth, but I for one have never heard of twins being separated at birth, not only that but then to discover them via YouTube is absolutely crazy.

I love that you can instantly see a connection between the two before they even have DNA proof that they are indeed twins.
I love how both their families seem to instantly accept and embrace the other twin, no questions asked. Not only have they gained a sister but they have also gained brothers, parents and grandparents.

I think this documentary is extremely well made, so much so it makes me want to see what happens in their lives next.

Mary Seng || Happily Grey

This month's blogger picks is the lovely Mary Seng of Happily Grey.
I actually have no idea how I discovered Mary, but boy am I glad I did. There's something about her style that speaks to me, I love that she has made everyday clothing look expensive and she makes me feel as though I can totally pull of the same outfit!

And she has quite a boot collection which make me love her even more! I love a good ankle boot.

Summary: When their country is invaded and their families are taken, eight unlikely high school teenagers band together to fight.

Genre: Action, Drama, Adventure

Watched: March 20th, 2016

I can 100% say that I wasn't expecting this film to be as good as it was. I wasn't expecting much so I had been avoiding watching this film, which doesn't really make much sense seeing as though I added it to my list of films to watch.

Every Sunday my parents and I try to watch a film together and one week I thought let's just give it a watch and see what happens.

I really like the characters, a couple of which I actually recognised from my Home & Away and Neighbours watching days.

There were a couple of things however that confused me. My parents and I kept questioning how old everybody was, I think even from the start (despite their mentioning of school and classes) I just couldn't think of these people as being school children.

Secondly I spent while thinking that the town had been taken over by aliens (why I don't entirely know), I think I definitely need to watch it again to fully understand everything that is going on.

Overall I really enjoyed this film, definitely one to watch and I hear that there is now TV series.
