The Fast and The Furious (Rob Cohen, 2001)

the fast and the furious 2001 poster

Cast: Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Rick Yune

Summary: An undercover cop infiltrates an underworld subculture of Los Angeles street racers looking to bust a hijacking ring, and soon begins to question his loyalties when his new street racing friends become the prime suspects

Genre: Action, Crime

When I told my friends that I had never seen any of the Fast and the Furious films they were pretty shocked, then I made it worse and told them that I hadn't seen any of the Scream films which I have to admit even I thought was bad especially since I love film.
I thought that this was a pretty good film, although at some point I felt like the acting was a bit rubbish but I can definitely see why it's such a popular series.

I already have the second one ready and waiting to be watched.

My Rating: 7/10

The Hangover Part II (Todd Phillips, 2011)

the hangover part II 2011 poster

Cast: Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, Justin Bartha, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong

Summary: Two years after the bachelor party in Las Vegas, Phil, Stu, Alan, and Doug jet to Thailand for Stu's wedding. Stu's plan for a subdued pre-wedding brunch, however, goes seriously awry.
Genre: Comedy

A lot of the time I find that sequels are absolutely terrible, this is one of the exceptions and although it's still not as good as the first one it is pretty good.
After a few scenes you can clearly tell that this sequel is going to be a lot ruder than the first film, which I have to admit did make me feel a little awkward when watching it in the cinema.

I read somewhere that a 3rd Hangover film is being made, if it is I'll watch it because I really enjoyed the first two but hopefully they do something to change to it up a bit.

My Rating: 8/10
One Final Word: Very Good

The Hurt Locker (Kathryn Bigelow, 2008)

the hurt locker 2009 poster

Cast: Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Guy Pearce, Ralph Fiennes, Evangeling Lilly

Summary: Iraq. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb

Genre: Drama, Thriller, War

This was the very last film that I studied in my A-Level film class, and I thought that it was very good and well deserving of the Oscar it won against Avatar.

Even though quite a few of the actors are quite famous, I really liked the fact that some of them to me were unrecognizable, for me it made the film just that little bit better.
I love the use of the shaky hand held camera shots because it gives the film that documentary look and feel and I love how there isn't much of a soundtrack and that the majority of the sound comes from within the film.

My Rating: 9/10
One Final Word: Very Good

From Dusk Till Dawn (Robert Rodriguez, 1996)

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Cast: George Clooney, Juliette Lewis, Harvey Keitel, Quentin Tarantino, Ernest Liu, Salma Hayek

Summary: A deranged convict and his brother kidnap a preacher and his two kids

Genre: Crime, Action

I absolutely loved this film! I think my sister or my mum said I should watch it and boy oh boy was it good.
When I started watching the film I thought I knew what it was about and what was going to happen, and then all of a sudden I thought wait a minute, I must have fallen asleep, I must have missed something.

Turns out I hadn't actually missed anything; the film just has one hell of a twist that (much like the characters) made me think hold up wait a minute I was losing my mind.
I loved the relationship between the characters especially between Seth and Ritchie (I thought Tarantino's acting was quite good in this, don't hate me) and I absolutely loved Juliette Lewis.

This film is definitely worth a watch!

My Rating: 10/10
