So I'm going to start this review off on a bad note, not about the film though about me.
This is the only Scream film I have seen. Yes I know that's bad and not just because I study film, I'm pretty sure almost everyone my age has seen the scream films. To be honest I was never really interested in watching Scream it never really seemed like my type of film.
In some ways I think it's a good thing that I've not seen the other films and in some ways it's a bad thing. Seeing the film from a fresh perspective I thought it was really good; however I was pretty lost because I hadn't seen any previous films so I didn't fully understand what was going on.
I think once I watch the rest of the films everything else will make sense, but overall a decent film.

Like most reviews I'm going to start off by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I can normally watch films with acts of extreme violence but the opening attack scene is one I struggled with. Don't get me wrong the scene is done fantastically but I struggled because it is an extremely aggressive, unprovoked, random, cruel and vicious attack forever changing the lives of those it involves.
I couldn’t actually bring myself to watch the whole thing so I skipped most of it.
I absoluely loved Jodie Foster in this role, I truly felt for her character Erica Bain and the pain she was going through. Everyone deals with their grief in different ways and although her way is just a tad bit extreme she does what she feels she has to do.
I'm actually quite a fan of Miss Foster Panic Room and Flight Plan are two of my favourite films.
I think the thing I loved most about the film is the understanding/relationship that develops between Erica and Detective Mercer played by Terrence Howard (who I think is pretty hot). Had the attack not happened they most likely would never have met, the chemistry between them is unmistakable and I like to think that after everything that's happend they will always be there for each other.

Sucker Punch (Zack Snyder, 2011)
Cast: Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, Oscar Isaac
Summary: A young girl is institutionalized by her abusive stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the mental facility.
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Adventure
Wooooo! Firstly Happy 18th Birthday to me!
Now, I’ve been excited about seeing this film since I found out about it some time last year and it’s been on my must see list ever since.
Baby Doll (Emily Browning) is the first character you meet and her story is the first story you learn, but because of the film’s fast pace it’s not completely obvious what happens in the first few minutes. The fast pace continues throughout the film barely giving you the chance to learn the story of sisters Rocket (Jena Malone) and Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), and it completely ignores the rest of the main characters Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), Amber (Jamie Chung), Blue (Oscar Issac) and Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino).
Although having seen the film a couple of times I think I may understand why they only tell the story of the three girls, but then again having seen the film a couple of times it makes even less sense then what I thought it did. Does that even make sense?
It’s definitely the action packed fight sequences that make the film especially the scene of where the train heads to the futuristic city, alongside the brilliant soundtrack featuring songs that have been re-recorded by some of the actors including Browning.
I really liked this film but it does have its problems, characters are overlooked, but all in all the plots really confusing, it’s fast pace and characters are overlooked and the plot’s confusing but it’s definitely worth a watch for the effects and the soundtrack.

Dog Soldiers (Neil Marshall, 2002)
Cast: Sean Pertwee, Kevin McKidd, Emma Cleasby, Liam Cunningham
Summary: A routine military exercise turns into a nightmare in the Scotland wilderness
Genre: Action, Horror
I was nervous about watching this film because I thought it was going to be scary, but it was nowhere near as scary as I thought it would be. I am still a little confused with the back story, so I think I need to watch it again and maybe pay more attention this time (now that I know it's not scary).
My Rating: 7/10
One Final Word: Good
